Undergrad research prize awarded to Stephanie Bell '20

The Russell and Wendy Weiner Prize for Undergraduate Research on Buddhist Practice, given in honor of Gelek Rimpoche, provides funding for summer research for an undergraduate student studying Buddhist practice in an Asian context. This award went to Religious studies minor, Stephanie Bell '20.

Stephanie's research will take her to Japan this summer where she hopes to study practices relating to the public exhibition of Buddhist objects. She plans to visit various Buddhist temples, museums located on the grounds of temples, Japanese national museums, and research centers for Japanese cultural property laws, in order to conduct research. "I hope to better understand storage, categorization, preservation, and exhibition practices of Buddhist objects in various display contexts." says Stephanie. Stephanie is a major in the Departments of History and Asian Studies in the College of Arts & Sciences.
